US summer associate program

I'm pleased to welcome you to this area of the site, where we try to give you all the must have information about our summer associate program and how to apply.

Not so long ago, I was a summer associate here myself. I spent the summer of 2000 with Bergman, Horowitz and Reynolds, P.C. (as the firm was then known) and joined as a first year associate in 2001. The firm has grown since my time as a summer associate and the growth has brought with it some interesting opportunities.

Our summer program is designed to ensure you receive maximum exposure to the three core areas within Wealth Planning - Funds, Investment, Tax and Trusts (FITT), Family and Business (FAB) and International. Although the Firm operates within these three subgroups there is a good deal of overlap and many of our attorneys have at some point in their careers spent time doing work representative of all three areas. As such, we prefer not to operate a rotational seat program, instead work is centrally coordinated to ensure that all our summer associates get a good variety of work. At the end of your time as a summer associate, you will know whether you can find a niche at Withers Bergman that can turn into a rewarding career. For an in depth account of what to expect, read the profiles of some of our most recent summer associates.

It's probably evident that an interest in tax planning is certainly more than useful for a career with us. What may not be so clear is the level of people-contact our work entails. As we work hand in hand with families and their advisors, the ability to form relationships, build consensus and reach solutions for clients is more prevalent than number crunching. Therefore we're looking for personality as well as intellect.

Even after just a brief exposure to the work of firm you will soon recognize some of the names among our high net worth client base.  The caliber of our client list is top notch and working in this arena requires associates and partners to be at the top of their game. If you're looking for a career which will challenge you intellectually and you relish the thought of joining a team of top rated lawyers, I urge you to apply.
