If you thrive in a team environment, you should enjoy life here
I look after our reception area here in New Haven.
I’m primarily responsible for answering the switchboard and greeting clients and guests when they arrive in the New Haven office. I manage the meeting rooms here, scheduling meetings and ensuring facilities such as the video conferencing equipment are reserved appropriately and coordinate having the rooms set up for lunch meetings. I also train our secretaries and any new receptionists on using the switchboard and help the receptionists in our other US offices where necessary.
The highlight of my role has been working in such a kind and supportive environment, coupled with the added interest of watching (and taking calls from!) the ever-increasing number of offices.
I love it and feel lucky to work in downtown New Haven. The office is in a perfect location, opposite Yale University. With the university so close, there’s always something going on. On a nice day you’ll find lots of Withers Bergman people eating their lunch on the green, often serenaded by a lunchtime concert. There are tons of restaurants and interesting boutiques close to the office. It seems to be increasing in popularity as a place to live and work and it’s certainly a bustling town. The architecture is fabulous and probably why film directors increasingly seem to be using New Haven as a back drop. Check out the opening segment of the 4th Indiana Jones movie being released in May – it was all filmed in New Haven.
When new people join I’m always confident in telling them that they will love working here. My first impressions of a friendly and welcoming firm have stuck with me and I’m sincere in saying that it’s the best place I’ve ever worked. It probably depends on your personality but if you thrive in a team environment, you should enjoy life here.
I’m married with 4 children. I’m interested in the arts. My children and I are all members of the New Haven Ballet – so you could say that we’re a bit of a dance-crazed family! In recent years I managed to talk some Partners here into taking honorary guest roles in The Nutcracker!
I also love to garden and NEVER answer the phone at home or my mobile once I leave the office.
