Simon, based in London, heads up the global HR team. He is heavily involved in new sector and office start ups and Partner hiring. Prior to joining Withers, Simon worked for a magic circle law firm after being based in the University sector for a number of years.
Candidates often ask about the Firm’s strategy. Essentially, the Firm is currently going through a rapid period of growth. We were very excited about the opening of our Hong Kong office in January. Our growth has opened up a wealth of opportunities and challenges for staff – ranging from secondments, to opportunities to build cross jurisdictional knowledge as we learn about and enter new markets and provide new services to our clients. Our growth was kick-started by our merger in 2002, followed by the opening of offices in New York, Geneva, Greenwich, New York and Hong Kong. During this period we have also recruited and trained to ensure we are able to establish ourselves in several key markets as well as locations. The growth has been managed well and I measure this in part by the fact that it still feels as though everyone knows each other within the Firm as we have placed great emphasis on integrating our global practice groups.
It has been, and is likely to be an exciting time for all of us at Withers and I get the sense that people here genuinely feel part of something exciting and dynamic.
