Overview

Celia is a member of the intellectual property team at Withers, advising on all aspects of IP protection, exploitation and enforcement. Celia has specialist knowledge in relation to a wide range of commercial and intellectual property issues of relevance to the art and creative sectors.

She has experience of working with a range of clients, from charities and entrepreneurs, to multi-national companies, across a number of jurisdictions. Celia has previously practiced with global law firms in Paris, Brussels and Alicante, the home of the European Agency for Trade Marks and Designs (OHIM).

Before joining Withers, Celia worked at a magic-circle law firm and is able to draw on her broad commercial and competition law expertise when advising clients.

Celia is described as 'very interested in the client's market and business'  and 'easy to work with' by Legal 500, 2014.

  • Advising a well-known gallery on the intellectual property issues relating to the use of third party imagery in a video installation piece.

  • Advising Christopher Kane on the IP aspects of the investment made by luxury group PPR.
  • Advising Nicholas Kirkwood and JW Anderson on the IP aspects of the investments made by LVMH.
  • Advising on contracts, manufacturing, distribution and agency agreements for a wide range of organisations.
  • Advising authors in relation to publishing agreements for a number of fiction and non-fiction books, with both multi-national and independent publishing houses.
  • Advising a wide range of businesses on the protection and development of their brand.
  • Advising designers on contracts and disputes relating to licences, franchises and diffusion lines.
  • Advising on the IP aspects of the launch of an own-name luxury brand for a well-known individual.
