Overview

Chloe is currently a trainee in the Commercial Litigation department at Withers and her work so far has been focussed on disputes in professional negligence, bankruptcy and arbitration work. She is now in her fourth seat and her previous seats in include Real Estate, Family and Intellectual Property.

Chloe sat in the Rural Property department during her time in Real Estate and there she handled a number of small sales and purchases of agricultural property involving both registered and unregistered land as well as drafting leases, deeds of covenants and farm business tenancies. She also assisted in sales and purchases of residential and commercial property.

Whilst in the Family department, Chloe's time was largely spent working on high-net worth ancillary relief cases as well as some children work, predominantly to do with contact. She was involved in two final hearings, assisting the team in the preparation and lead up to the hearings and attended both in the High Court.

Chloe's time in Intellectual Property was split between contentious and non-contentious work. Her work on the non-contentious side included drafting commercial distribution agreements for a number of Withers' fashion clients and dealing with trade mark and patent attorneys in order to register and renew trade mark registrations. On the contentious side she has worked on defeating summary judgment applications and has had a good deal of experience in the Senior Court Costs Office. She was also heavily involved in a high profile Appeal to the Court of Appeal on unauthorised use of a Community Trade Mark and passing off action against a well known restaurant business and has experience of freezing orders and some insolvency work.

Chloe has also spent six weeks of her time as a trainee working on a large disclosure exercise, analysing French documents for the Contentious Trusts and Succession Group and is often called upon for her French skills in conferences and meetings. She also helps advise some of Withers' French corporate clients on small matters from time to time.

Highlights

Chloe has worked on numerous cases involving well known brands and businesses together with high net worth individuals, some well known in the media as well as the more traditional landed gentry clients.

On a personal note

Chloe is a keen tennis player and otherwise very much enjoys travelling and diving. In her spare time she likes to read and cook and takes an interest in wine and art.
