Overview

Emma is a family lawyer dealing primarily with divorce and associated financial matters. A significant number of her cases involve trusts, family businesses, inherited wealth, international forum disputes and tracing assets.

She also advises on pre-nuptial contracts, cohabitation claims and private children issues.

Emma is a qualified collaborative lawyer and as part of the Resolution ADR Marketing Committee passionately promotes the Collaborative Law process as a positive alternative to traditional methods of dispute resolution.  

Clients include city executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, trustees, high profile figures and their spouses/partners.

Highlights

  • Emma was pivotally involved in the reported cases of Sorrell [2005] EWHC 717 (Fam) on exceptional contribution and Charman [2006] EWCA 1879 concerning departure from equality and trust issues.
  • Spears Wealth Management Survey presented Emma with a Lawyer of the Year award for 2007/2008.
  • Emma is described in the 2008 Chambers directory as "...takes the right points and moves things forward efficiently" and is praised in Legal 500 for "...outstanding intellect, hard work and a constructive approach".

Emma has appeared regularly on TV and radio commenting on family law issues. She is a contributor to Sweet & Maxwell’s Financial Provision in Family Matters and is often quoted in national and international newspapers as well as the legal press.

Emma is regularly invited to lecture on developments in the field of family law and trust issues in the context of divorce.

On a personal note
