Jon has significant experience advising in connection with complex cross border litigation, arbitration and ADR.

He specialises in commercial, contractual, banking and finance cases with a particular emphasis on fraud, asset tracing and insolvency. His fields of expertise also include shareholder and corporate disputes, trust matters, interim injunctions, IT, aviation, shipping, professional negligence and regulatory.

He has represented a breadth of corporates, financial institutions and high net worth individuals including Lloyds TSB, BMW, Siemans, Royal Mail, PWC, Sembawang, Monsoon and Deloitte.

Jon previously worked at Norton Rose LLP and has spent time in industry on secondment at HSBC and BNP Paribas, as well as acting as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Carlsberg UK Holdings Plc.


Advising Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank on the effect of a number of freezing orders, relating to monies allegedly held on behalf of the former President of Nigeria, Saini Abacha.

Acting on behalf of a consortium of banks in relation to the events of 9/11 in an ad hoc arbitration to determine the meaning of a force majeure clause contained in a syndicated loan agreement.

Advising BMW in connection with a multi-million pound claim brought by a leading vehicle component supplier.

Advising a prominent beneficiary concerning a multi-million dollar trust which held substantial business assets across a number of jurisdictions.

Acting for Credit Lyonnais in relation to a US$10m metal trading dispute connected to an alleged US$600 million fraud, and advising in relation to High Court proceedings in Singapore.

Publications and speaking engagements

Jon regularly writes and lectures on a variety of commercial, banking, insolvency and cross border legal issues. He has drafted sections of the standard arbitration and mediation rules and procedures for the Royal Aeronautical Society.

On a personal note

Jon enjoys water sports and sailing. He is a keen skier and enjoys watching rugby.
