Derivatives are becoming increasingly popular as a component of investment portfolios, whether used to hedge investments or currencies, to take active (often geared) positions, or to structure investment participation.

Our funds and financial services team has extensive experience of the contractual issues surrounding all varieties of derivatives, including forward contracts, options and financial futures.

We are also highly knowledgeable about the tax implications of different derivatives. Derivatives can be used to change the nature of an investment for tax purposes and may therefore be useful on the implementation of tax-efficient investment strategies for clients.

As well as advising wealthy individual clients looking to invest in financial products we act for a number of international banks and other investment providers. We also assist companies and charities in investment matters concerning financial products.
