Withers has been advising Italian businesses and entrepreneurs for over twenty years. Offering English, Italian, US and Hong Kong law advice through our bilingual lawyers, we deliver a comprehensive range of services. In addition to assisting our clients in Italy, our Milan practice co-ordinates a network of Italian Desks set up in our London, New York, Geneva and Hong Kong offices who provide these services to companies and entrepreneurs wishing to invest in Italy.

The history of our Milan office begins with its opening in 1995 to make access to English and US law advice more convenient for our Italian based clients.

In 2005 we created an Italian law desk in London to offer Italian advice to US and English clients investing in Italy. Avv. Roberta Crivellaro (a bilingual Avvocato/Solicitor) became the head of this first "Italian Desk". In 2007 we were joined in Hong Kong by Guy Facey, a corporate lawyer fluent in Italian, French and Mandarin with many years' experience in advising Chinese and Italian companies.

Most recently, in 2009, the Milan office was expanded with the addition of two new partners, Luigi M Macioce, and Riccardo Buizza, and their team of four associates, under the leadership of practice General Manager, Roberta Crivellaro, who moved to Italy for this purpose, and Chairman of Withers LLP, Anthony Indiamo. Luigi is both a lawyer and an Italian tax advisor (ccmmercialista) specialising in assisting Italian and foreign clients on domestic and international tax planning in connection with corporate restructuring and reorganisation, M&A transactions and private equity deals. Riccardo is a litigator with over 20 years experience whose client base includes insurance groups and multinational technology, industrial and financial services organisations.

In 2009, Gabriel Monzon Cortarelli, a US corporate lawyer previously based in the Milan office, moved to New York to set up our Italian Desk there to assist American companies investing in Italy and Italian companies working in the US.

Lawyers in our Italian team are active members of various associations with Italian connections such as Business Club Italia, British Italian Law Association, Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK, British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, American Chamber of Commerce in Italy, GEI, Gruppo Esponenti Italiani and the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce in New York to name a few.
