Governance & operations

In some families, the founder's vision creates a lasting legacy. In others, unfortunately, that vision fails to survive the transition from one generation to the next.

What makes the difference? Most family office experts agree that the crucial element is effective governance.  Done properly, it provides everyone in the family with a clear roadmap for the future and reduces the chance of conflict.

We work with clients to develop a system of governance which will serve the needs of the family now and for generations to come, and assist the family office in achieving its particular strategic vision. We also assist in planning for transition and succession.

Recent work

  • Developing formal governance mechanisms with the Family office, including manager and trustee succession provisions.
  • Helping clients to set up operational procedures, and in some cases producing operational manuals for the family office and its private fiduciary structures.
  • Implementing a private trust company to serve as fiduciary for a family's multi-generational trusts, and delineating roles of family members and staff, succession procedures, etc.
