Marjorie J. Burchett has joined international law firm Withers as a new partner in its San Diego office. Marjorie is an experienced real estate lawyer who has worked across major residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects in California for the last 30 years.
Marjorie joins Withers Bergman from Dentons, and was previously a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge and Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps. Marjorie reunites with many colleagues at Withers Bergman who joined the firm from McKenna Long & Aldridge in July 2015, and with whom she shares strong client relationships and contacts.
Marjorie’s clients include high-net worth individuals, corporate property investors and developers, and private equity investors. She will focus on the Southern California market, including resort projects and mixed use hotel/residential projects.
“We are very excited to welcome Marjorie to the firm, and to see her reunited with her friends and colleagues, who all hold her and her legal skills in very high regard,” said Jim Carolan, partner and leader of the firm’s U.S. Real Estate practice. “Marjorie’s practice will complement our San Francisco real estate team, providing strong real estate coverage across California. Real estate is an important investment class for wealthy individuals in the San Diego area, and Marjorie’s knowledge and contacts will be invaluable in servicing this market.”
Withers Bergman expanded its operations in California in 2015, opening offices in San Diego, Rancho Santa Fe and Los Angeles, adding to its existing practice in San Francisco. The firm further added to its senior ranks in California earlier this month by promoting Rancho Santa Fe based lawyer Rebecca O’Toole to partner. Rebecca’s practice focuses on estate planning, trust and estate administration and charitable giving.
