FanDuel makes full payout on 'glitch' bet

21 September 2018 | Applicable law: US

Following an investigation by New Jersey gambling regulators, FanDuel has decided to make a full payout of $82,000 to a bettor who placed a bet at incorrect odds.

The bettor placed a $110 in-game bet on the Broncos to defeat the Oakland Raiders during the Broncos' game-winning drive at 750-1 odds. At the time the bet was placed, FanDuel claims the betting odds should have been 1-6 but a system glitch caused the incorrect odds to be posted and twelve bets were made with the incorrect odds over an 18-second period. Previously, FanDuel had claimed that they would honor all such bets at the accurate market price in accordance with their own rules and industry standards but has now reversed course and agreed pay out all such bets at the odds that were given on the ticket.
