Resolution's first National YRes Conference for family lawyers took place in London on 21st September 2017, with Richard Handel of our family law team helping to organise the event through his involvement on the National YRes Committee.
Over 200 young lawyers attended the event, which featured key note presentations from Sir James Munby, President of the Family Court, and Angela Lake-Carroll, consultant head of standards at Resolution, who explored issues of what the future may hold for family lawyers.
The conference also presented opportunities to discuss the use of alternative dispute resolution methods, as well as communication tools for use in negotiation processes. Psychotherapist and family mediator Johnathan Pease presented on the adoption of psychological theories to help family lawyers better identify and meet their clients' needs.
Richard comments: “The inaugural National YRes Conference was a great success, and that is testament to the hard work of many people who were involved in its planning. It was entirely appropriate that the theme for the conference should be the future of family law, as it gave a new generation of family lawyers the opportunity to share their thoughts on where the profession is heading and how we should collectively address challenges in the future.”
