Connecticut Supreme Court Justice Maria Araujo Kahn engaged with the Withers 2019 summer associate class during an interactive Q&A session hosted in the New Haven office.
The lively session led by Litigation Partner, Jim Nealon and Special Litigation Counsel, John Farnsworth touched on a variety of topics that included mentoring, professional relationships, work / life balance, implicit bias and the effect of today's advanced technologies on court proceedings.

Justice Kahn was born in Angola, Africa. She emigrated to the United States at ten years of age and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. She graduated from New York University cum laude with a B.A. in politics in 1986 and earned her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1989. Justice Kahn was nominated to the Supreme Court by Governor Malloy in 2017. Before serving on the Supreme Court, Justice Kahn was an Appellate Court and Superior Court judge, and prior to that, an Assistant U.S. Attorney in New Haven.
