Withers launches fully integrated Singapore practice

2 January 2019

After three successful years of collaboration as Withers KhattarWong, a Formal Law Alliance (FLA) in Singapore, the partners in Withers Worldwide and KhattarWong LLP voted unanimously to combine its practices into a fully integrated law firm in Singapore (Withers KhattarWong LLP).

Withers KhattarWong LLP is the largest international law firm focused on private capital in Singapore, with over 90 lawyers, qualified in various jurisdictions including Singapore, U.S., U.K., Australia, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia and Ukraine.

Withers KhattarWong was formed at the start of 2015 through the alliance of international law firm Withers with well-respected Singapore firm KhattarWong, with all of the latter's partners joining the Withers' partnership with full economic integration.

"We are delighted to announce the formation of Withers KhattarWong LLP. This underscores our commitment to Singapore and the region and our strong belief in the immense opportunities arising from the growing wealth and business environment in Asia Pacific. The fully integrated firm will continue to provide unmatched multijurisdictional legal advice from our office in Singapore, across private client, tax, dispute resolution and commercial matters," comments Margaret Robertson, CEO of Withers.

Deborah Barker SC, Managing Partner of Withers KhattarWong LLP, adds: "In the coming years, we look to expand upon our leading position in the market. During our FLA, we have worked on Southeast Asia’s largest debt restructuring deal in recent years, numerous high profile litigation matters, as well as assisting numerous successful clients on their estate planning and family office activities."

Since launching the FLA, the combined practice has grown significantly via strategic hires and strengthening key practices such as restructuring and insolvency, commercial litigation and arbitration, international tax, funds, real estate, banking and finance, technology, hotels and hospitality as well as private client.
