Nadia is an associate in the Intellectual property team

Nadia is a dual qualified lawyer (England and India). She holds a degree in International Commercial law from the University of Cambridge and is currently pursuing a post-graduate degree in Intellectual Property Law at the Universities of Oxford. She has been the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, including as an incoming Pegasus Scholar at the Inner Temple, London and a clerkship with the Supreme Court of India. Her life sciences industry knowledge was gained in-house with a global CRO.

Her current practice spans hard IP (patents, trade marks & designs) and life-sciences/ health-tech regulatory work, in the context of IP transactional work (negotiating and drafting bespoke commercial arrangements) as well as advising in the context of mid-size M&A deals (upwards of £100m). Her sector focus is life sciences and technology including health-tech and med-tech sectors.

Life sciences: She has extensive experience advising on all aspects of the medicinal product life-cycle, including all phases of clinical trials, post-MA, pharma in--and out-licensing, MHRA/EMA regulations, blue book, anti-bribery, dealings with HCPs. Drafting and negotiation of the full suite of pharma agreements including manufacturing, distribution (wholesalers), white labelling, collaborative research, development. While in-house, she has advised global pharmaceutical companies on clinical trial regulations, risks in contractual documents for all phases of trials across EMEA and APAC, with a particular focus on oncology and paediatric trials.

Technology: Nadia has advised on a number of high value complex technology transactions in the heavy engineering sector. In particular, she has advised on a number of patent licensing deals in the deep sea drilling sector, one of the largest deals in marine technology, as well as on a number of defence deals (both MOD defcons and overseas defence deals).

Health-tech/ Med-tech: She has experience advising clients on medical devices, health-apps, nutraceuticals, fertility clinics, animal testing, human tissue, issues around patient consent. She regularly advises on life-sciences regulatory issues, including regulations, rules and guidelines issued by the Care Quality Commission, MHRA, European Medicines Agency, HFEA (fertility), Human Tissue Authority, NHS. She has also advised on professional body rules (such as GMC, GDC) in the context of life-sciences M&A risks. She has extensive experience advising IP in the context of university spin-offs, IP strategy for start-ups and IP strategy audits for later stage start-ups.

Rolls Royce plc: Advised, drafted and negotiated for Rolls-Royce plc on all aspects of IP on the sale of its commercial marine business to the Kongsberg group (£500m).

Deep-sea drilling: IP Advice & negotiation in the context of the purchases of two deep-sea oil drilling tech. companies (each deal > £120m);

Trademarks/Brand licensing: • Advised on the IP out-licensing of two portfolios of cereal brands in the context of two separate sales (each deal upwards of £100m);
