Assisting Counsel in a Magistrate’s Appeal in the High Court, in a matter relating to investigations by the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (‘CPIB’). A novel area of law involving the application of sentencing principles where false information is provided to the authorities was canvassed and argued. The appeal against sentence was successful and the Appellant’s sentence of 3 weeks’ imprisonment was reduced to a fine.

Assisting Counsel in a trial defending a client accused of an outrage of modesty offence. The Complainant’s evidence was shown to be lacking in consistency and corroboration. The trial judge found the accused not guilty of the offence and acquitted him.

Acted for an individual who was being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt to another person. Successfully demonstrated that the circumstances were borne out of provocation. No charges were preferred and investigations into the matter were concluded.
