Me in a minute
I feel so lucky to have been involved in creating so many great places to live and work
I was first exposed to real estate development as I grew up in a family where both my grandmother and my father were involved in various aspects of real estate sales and development. I loved the idea that one could help shape our communities into more desirable places. After working for a government land use agency following college, I opted to become a lawyer because I found the legal aspects challenging and interesting.
Having recently joined Withers, I am so pleased to continue building strong personal relationships with my long time clients, and new clients I have begun working with at the firm. What I enjoy the most about what I do is that I have the chance to work with all aspects of real estate law, which often involves working with a client’s vision, and a talented team that brings that vision into reality. The process can be challenging, but it is so satisfying to provide solution-oriented guidance grounded in the large variety of matters I have handled in my career.
I feel so lucky to have been involved in creating so many great places to live and work. Collaborating with so many creative people and visionaries, it is not uncommon at all to end up giving legal shape to an idea initiated by our client, but also to provide alternatives that help them meet their goals when circumstances change.
Now that I am working more with individual clients and their families at Withers, I have the opportunity to apply my experience for the benefit of clients who may be working with an unusual real estate ownership, development or sale issue for the first time. The atmosphere of our firm of being so client focused also works well with institutional clients, all of whom are unique individuals in their own right that want to implement their goals in a way they feel best suits the situation we are facing. Developing a keen awareness of the needs of each client is highly valued at our firm, and is consistent with my own personal style.
I very much enjoy volunteering my time in community and industry groups, which gives me the opportunity to both give back and meet even more great people who enjoy the same activities that I do.
