Paul Sorkin is a Consulting Attorney on the U.S. intellectual property team, based in our Boston office. Over the past 25 years, Paul’s practice has included advising clients on protecting their intellectual property assets by strategic use of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret measures. He has worked as an I.P. attorney in large and small law firms and as in-house patent counsel for a large high technology corporation.
Paul’s insight and understanding of the process of innovation gives him a unique set of tools to use for his clients. Before becoming an attorney, Paul worked in the high-tech industry for almost a decade as a test and project engineer. He leverages that experience to work well with inventors on a personal level.
Clients, including corporations of all sizes as well as individual inventors, rely on his experience preparing, prosecuting, and maintaining their patent and trademark portfolios. Paul focuses on obtaining patent protection aligned with their business requirements and product lines, regularly evaluating patent portfolios for product clearance, non-infringement, and preparing invalidity opinions. He has experience reviewing the competition’s products to identify potential issues of infringement.
Paul has expertise in software, data networking, data storage, electrical/electromechanical devices, medical devices, signal processing systems, fluid monitoring systems, and semiconductors.
