Ushan is a partner in the litigation and arbitration team.

Ushan enjoys a broad-based international arbitration and litigation practice. Ushan regularly appears in commercial arbitrations relating to private equity investments, software contracts and commodities. He is frequently instructed to act in arbitration-related litigation before the Singapore Court and advises international clients from India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam as well as domestic clients regarding the arbitral process and enforcement of arbitral awards.

As a seasoned advocate, Ushan is adept at handling both trial and appellate litigation in relation to complex, high-value, cross-border commercial disputes especially in the areas of joint ventures, software contracts, private equity investments, trust, commodities, banking and securities. He recently successfully acted as lead counsel before the Singapore Court of Appeal (CA/CA 19/2018) in a contentious trust dispute relating to rights of discretionary beneficiaries, breach of fiduciary duties and failure to account for trust assets.

Ushan’s expertise has been recognised by several publications. He has been praised by clients in the 2019 edition of The Legal 500 publication for being a lawyer who impresses with ‘his very quick grasp of the financial figures’ and ‘his sharp observations, insight, and succinct summaries’.

Ushan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Double Degree with Honours in Law and Business Administration (Finance) in 2010 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2011. He was placed on the Dean’s List during the course of his studies.
