Shelley is a senior associate in the litigation and arbitration team.

She has advised and acted for most of the major insurance companies in Singapore on various matters involving both contentious and non-contentious aspects of insurance, including Work Injury Compensation, Public Liability, Contractors’ All Risks, Motor Vehicle Insurance, Fire Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance, Business Interruption and Property Insurance, Guarantees and Security Bonds, Product Liability and Professional Indemnity. Shelley has also advised on various policy disputes including double insurance, material non – disclosure, misrepresentation, subrogated claims, policy avoidance arising from breach of policy conditions and regularly acts for the insurers and their assured in defending third party claims, as well as for insurers in subrogated and other types of recovery claims.

She has been both counsel and assisting counsel in trials and hearings at all levels of the Singapore Courts, and is equally adept at representing clients in various forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution, such as mediation and neutral evaluation.

Shelley’s interests outside of work are cooking for her family and friends, music, photography, traveling and reading. She is currently a member of the Management Committee of Hope Worldwide (Singapore), a registered charity with IPC status and volunteers and contributes to its various charity programmes in Singapore.

Union Concept Manufacturers v Rythme Technology Pte Ltd [2015] SGHC 121 – assisted in a High Court trial relating to the recovery of insured and uninsured loss caused by fire damage.

See Toh Siew Kee v Ho Ah Lam Ferrocement (Pte) Ltd and others [2013] 3 SLR 284 _ – _ assisted in resisting the appeal against clients. Landmark decision relating to occupiers’ liability by the Court of Appeal. Appeal against clients, the 1st Defendants, was dismissed.

Karuppiah Elangovan v Poh Cheong Product Concrete Pte Ltd and another, SHC Capital Limited as Third Party [Suit 720 of 2011P] unreported. Assisted in trial on liability where clients (2nd Defendants) successfully recovered damages payable to the Plaintiff from the third party insurers.
