Why choose Withers Bergman
Our summer associate program is designed to ensure you receive maximum exposure to the core areas within private client & tax, such as domestic and international wealth planning, income tax, tax controversy and estate administration. In addition there may be opportunities to work with our business and litigation teams.
In order for our summer associates to gain experience in all of these areas, we do not operate a formal rotational program. Instead, work is centrally coordinated to ensure that each summer associate receives a good variety of work from a broad pool of attorneys.
Due to the nature and focus of our program, a demonstrated interest in, and ideally direct experience with tax planning is desired. In addition to strong academic credentials, we work hand in hand with families and their advisors, so the ability to form relationships, think outside the box and reach solutions for clients with complex circumstances are more important characteristics for a summer associate. As a result, we look for personality and sound judgement as well as intellect.
The firm has a low associate to partner ratio, enabling you to work closely with senior attorneys and firm leadership. We want you to learn from the best. Our social events over the course of the summer are designed to provide opportunities to spend time with attorneys and each other outside of work in a more informal setting. We value our culture of teamwork at Withers, and it’s important to us to have strong relationships with our colleagues as well as with our clients.
The caliber of our clients in the high-net-worth, global community is top notch, and working in this arena requires associates and partners to exhibit the skills and character necessary to serve their needs. Our impressive client base includes entrepreneurs, families and family businesses, generational wealth, athletes and artists. If you’re looking for a career which will challenge you intellectually, at a firm that takes an active interest in your development, you are urged to apply.
