Tahirah is a partner in the corporate team.

Her work areas include banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, regional and domestic joint ventures as well as general commercial law.

Some of the significant matters Tahirah has handled include acting for both lenders and major corporate borrowers in syndicated loans. She has also acted in a wide range of cross-border banking and finance transactions in the region including acquisition leveraged financings, receivables backed financings, structured financings as well as debt restructurings. She also has experience with shareholders’ ‘A’ agreements, joint venture agreements and sale and purchase of shares/assets agreements.

Advised Long Haul Holdings Ltd. and PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (Bakrie Group) in March 2014 in the acquisition of a 29.2% interest in PT Bumi Resources Tbk from Asia Resource Minerals plc (formerly Bumi plc) (ARMS) for US$501 million in cash, and the disposal of the Bakrie Group’s entire 23.8% indirect interest in ARMS to Ravenwood Acquisition Company Limited. This is one of the most significant and complex transactions in recent times in both the UK and Asia. This cross-border deal straddled legal and business issues in Singapore, Indonesia, England and Wales.

Lead counsel acting for PT Bumi Resources Tbk, which owns one of the largest coal exporters in the world, on its global debt restructuring. The value of this deal is more than US$5 billion, making it one of the largest debt restructuring in Southeast Asia. This cross-border deal straddles legal and business issues in Singapore, Indonesia, USA, England and Wales.
