Where in the world?

Event follow up

Our ‘Where in the World?’ conference took place in London’s Institute of Engineering and Technology on 22 May 2018.

The day-long event examined how to plan for and how to protect the globally mobile lives of successful people. The concept of a single, fixed base in one place is becoming obsolete for wealth generating families, who are simultaneously operating in multiple jurisdictions and hold residency rights in more than one country, and our conference was launched with a wide-ranging presentation by Alistair Darling, UK Chancellor from 2007-2010. Our panels then explored the factors driving mobility, as well as offering advice on how to make important choices between jurisdictions, and highlighting the many factors and threats that need to be considered.

Alongside speakers from Withers’ European, Asian and US offices, we welcomed experts from Calunius Capital, Ispahani Advisory, Knight Frank, Savills and Toro Risk Solutions.

Our highly engaged audience asked many questions, and we have collated them below, along with answers from our lawyers and guest panelists:

The whole day was spot on – organisation, topics and choice of experts.

Very informative without getting too technical or highbrow.

Looking forward to following up with speakers.

Great presentations. Quite impressive what Withers can put together on the different issues clients are facing. I enjoyed the day with you guys very much and have a lot of inputs to put into practice.
