Withers Partner Michael Brophy named a Most Influential Minority Attorney

Los Angeles-based partner and office managing director, Michael Brophy, is named a 2020 Top Minority Attorney in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal. The list recognizes the most influential minority attorneys in Los Angeles.

We chose attorneys, “who are particularly impactful and who maintain the highest professional and ethical standards,” said the publisher. “We also considered honorees’ contributions to the Los Angeles business and legal community at large.”

Michael is part of the trust and estate litigation team at Withers. He has extensive experience representing high net worth individuals and families, charities, corporate trustees, private professional fiduciaries and creditors in litigation involving complex trusts and estates and privately-held businesses. Michael’s diverse practice includes will and trust contests, accounting disputes, breach of duty actions, elder abuse and conservatorship disputes, document interpretation matters, contract and business governance disputes, and other contested probate and fiduciary-related matters. His recent litigation wins include a trial victory on behalf of the trustee of a dynasty trust in Los Angeles Superior Court.

A leader in diversity initiatives in the legal community, Michael serves as co-chair of the firm’s US Diversity and Inclusion Committee, as a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Diversity in the Profession Committee and as co-chair of that group’s Subcommittee on Diversity in the Judiciary, and as a member of the LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles Board of Governors. Michael is also active in efforts to support the judiciary through public service, including participating in the Civil Bench Bar Liaison Committee, LACBA’s Court Funding Committee initiatives, and other L.A. Superior Court programs.
