Ian Perrett


Ian is a partner in the private client and tax team.

He advises international families, private banks and trust companies on UK and offshore trust, tax and estate planning. Ian’s work has a particular focus on planning for UK resident non-domiciliaries and tax and residence issues for individuals moving to or from the UK.

He advises international families on the creation (and restructuring) of wealth-holding structures intended to implement succession plans for personal and business assets. He also advises on tax and fiduciary issues for trustees.

Ian has also built up considerable experience advising individuals, trustees and financial institutions on the scope of the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) with particular emphasis on the extent to which reporting will be required in relation to complex trust structures. He also advises on voluntary disclosure and tax regularisation matters.

UK individual deemed domiciled in the UK for inheritance tax purposes seeking to transfer valuable shares in non-UK company to next generation whilst retaining a degree of control in the short to medium term. We advised on the creation of a UK family investment company to hold the assets, including advising on the UK tax implications of the restructuring and the future tax treatment of the shareholders / company as well as providing the company documentation that would ensure that the client retained control of the company but transferred economic value to the next generation.
