As a successful person, it’s a fairly safe bet that you started out firmly holding the belief that, in whatever way important to you, the future can be better than the present, and that you have the ability to make it happen.

So whether you’re a serial entrepreneur, or considering a switch out of employment to pursue your passion, or seeking venture capital or private equity backing, we can help.

Be part of a community of successful people

We are now one of the largest law firms in the world that focuses on individuals and their private capital interests. This is useful to you because it means we can help you if your plans take you internationally. But beyond that, we can also look for ways to connect you with people from our network who might be of assistance. As we have acted for over half the people listed in the top 100 of The Sunday Times Rich list, and similar numbers of people in the US Forbes and Asia Forbes lists, we think a particular benefit to our entrepreneur clients is our relationships with this global group of potential investors and philanthropists.

We’ve been running a popular series of events for the last decade called ‘Inside the Entrepreneurial Mind’ which allows our clients to hear from other successful people who are part of the Withers international community. Founders and owners like Kevin Byrne (Checkatrade), Remo Gerber (Gett), Patrick Baynes (Peoplelinx) and Elle Kaplan (Lexicon Capital Management) are just a few of the global leaders who have generously shared their experiences at these events.

The law firm for success

You hear a lot from law firms about the problems that you will face in business, and the structures you need to put in place to avoid mistakes. We know however that in reality you want to avoid time and money spent on legal questions, especially at start-up and at scale-up. Conrad Hilton linked success to action – he said that successful people keep moving; they make mistakes but they don’t quit. We like to operate quietly and efficiently in the background, safeguarding your interests and keeping you moving towards success.

All success stories need a start. That’s why we are committed to helping startups through our involvement with a number of organizations, such as the ‘Startup Funding Club’ and the ‘Alley to the Valley’ organization.

Harriet Green, former CEO of Thomas Cook

Withers were clear and concise in their advice to me during the sale of my company.

Dame Natalie Massenet, Founder - NET-A-PORTER

I was so thankful that I engaged Withers to handle my private affairs. They were extraordinarily professional, discreet and above all, kind. They saw me through a very difficult time, with tact, diplomacy and an abundance of wisdom, for which I am extremely grateful.

Business owner

I find them to be practical and empathetic, clear as to the law but equally capable of listening and taking clear instructions. It is hard to describe working with lawyers over such matters as a pleasure, but certainly they have been a pleasure to deal with and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Founder, Venture Capital firm

I was introduced to Withers by one the UK’s most significant and successful entrepreneurs. He advised me that to develop my business I needed the best lawyers. I took his advice and since then have worked with Withers on several aspects of my business. What I hear from them is, “Kev, we are here to protect you”, and protect me they do very well. Their advice spans further than just legal, they have a network of professionals and high net worth clients and often bring them together. Withers have proved to be a very valuable partner of Checkatrade and nothing at any hour of the day is too much trouble for them. If you need the best on your side, then look no further.

Kevin Byrne, Founder and CEO - Checkatrade

Withers take not just a commercial point of view but an entrepreneurial one too by standing in the clothes of their clients and seeing things from our point of view.

Iqbal Wahhab - Roast Restaurant

I have relied on Withers’ legal strengths on numerous occasions, and in particular when negotiating agreements with distributors and retailers. The team at Withers has mentored me as my business has developed over the past 10 years, and their practical guidance has been very valuable in forming my commercial approach.

Amanda Lacey Luxury Skin Care

The team at Withers has been a great support to the creative development of our brand over the years, providing legal advice that has given us stability, and that is always informed by the firm’s deep understanding of the fashion industry.

As a leading fashion, lifestyle and entertainment agency, we provide a highly focused, expert service in connecting global consumer and luxury brands with celebrity talent. We enjoy working with Anthony Indaimo and the experienced team at Withers due to the firm’s in depth understanding of both brand strategy and talent engagement. The Withers team intrinsically understand what makes a successful brand-talent collaboration and how to navigate both the legalistic and business sides of this sometimes complex landscape. The team’s pragmatic advice, passion and approach with clients reflects our own and ultimately best serve our clients’ interests. This is why Withers is always our preferred partner and our first recommendation to all clients who are seeking outside legal counsel.

Sharon Ainsberg - SHO + CO

Withers did a fantastic job for us on the sale of a prime West End commercial property. The commercial property team is absolutely brilliant, agreeing and exchanging contracts on the same day. We are really very grateful.
