Family team shines in Spear’s Family Lawyers Index

Our Family team stands out in Spear's magazine's 2014 Family Lawyers Index.  The annual report is based on peer nominations of the UK's leading family lawyers and reinforces the strength and depth of the team by featuring nine of its members.  This builds on last year's success in filling out the index with eight of our lawyers.  The report was previewed in an article in The Times 11 April, which quoted Withers' partner Diana Parker.

This year sees three Withers' lawyers in the top ten; Mark Harper and Diana Parker make well-deserved reappearances, with Mark singled out as ‘formidable with the most complicated details of family law' and Diana described as ‘one of London's divorce lawyer queens'.  Suzanne Todd is listed for the first time, with comments from peers rating her ‘common sense approach', ‘determination' and ‘quiet confidence'.  This follows on from Suzanne's selection for The Lawyer's Hot 100 report in January, and we hope there's more to come!

The Top Recommended section features partners James Copson, Michael Gouriet, Suzanne Kingston and Julian Lipson.  James is rated as ‘an excellent tactician' with first-rate client handling skills, whilst the report highlights Michael's expertise in cohabitation cases, big-money disputes, multi-jurisdiction pre-nups and international children cases.  Suzanne is described as ‘probably the lawyer in the index who covers the most diverse areas of family law', as well as a top quality teacher in arbitration and mediation.  Julian's experience in complex multi-jurisdiction cases is noted, as is his ‘efficiency and common sense'.

The Rising Stars section includes partner Kate Landells and associate Emily Copson.  The report highlights Emily's work in co-founding a family law advice clinic, as well as her excellent work on complex cases and the index describes how Kate is skilled at ‘nimbly hopping from theory… to practice' in cases.
