Senior Associate

Lisa is a senior associate in the employment team.

Her practice is diverse and encompasses a wide range of corporate and individual clients - from global organisations to owner-manager businesses and from entrepreneurs to partners and managers in professional practices. She also frequently advises senior executives and companies on appointments, disputes and terminations at senior and board level. This breadth of work provides a balanced practice and valuable understanding of differing perspectives.

An active member of the firm’s entrepreneurs team, Lisa also enjoys assisting start-ups put in place the building blocks necessary to launch and grow their businesses - particularly by helping them to navigate the challenges of hiring employees and addressing English employment issues for the first time.

Whilst Lisa is an experienced litigator, she frequently resolves disputes swiftly and sensitively without recourse to court or tribunal, negotiating outcomes which are commercial, cost effective and protect the reputations involved. Similarly, when assisting companies during difficult times, Lisa works with her clients to ensure that actions are both legally appropriate and take account of the human impact of decisions reached.

She has over a decade of experience advising on all aspects of employment law and clients praise her ‘critically important insights’ and ‘highly responsive’, ‘extremely efficient and empathetic manner’.

Lisa enjoys public speaking and has delivered training and presentations to clients, colleagues and other audiences including small businesses and employment lawyers. Topics covered are broad and include discrimination law, sickness absence, team moves and basics of employment law.

My reward is felt in the satisfaction of my clients

Over a decade ago, I chose to practice employment law on the basis that it was a specialty where I felt that I could really get to know and help people and organisations. I am delighted that that has not only proved to be true but also remains at the heart of what I do.

To some extent practising employment law is like being a designer of bespoke clothes (but sadly less glamorous) - advice needs to be tailored. I am constantly ensuring that strategies and outcomes are dictated by a combination of law, logic and truly understanding what each client wants and values.

I have a wonderfully diverse client base and getting to know my clients has taken me from factories to galleries, from hospitals to houses and from skyscrapers in the City to industrial sites in the mountains and beyond… Continuing the fashion theme – I have also enjoyed acting for many luxury brands and those working in that arena - a lot of fun for a fan of shopping!

As well as individuals, entrepreneurs and companies, I have also been privileged to assist many charities over the years both at work and more broadly - when I swap running a case for running a race or a committee.

Ultimately, although winning cases may not lead to medals, my reward is felt in the satisfaction of my clients when their objectives are met and their aspirations are realised or when my assistance has helped a fledgling company to grow. Moments that make me realise I made the right choice all those years ago…
