Tony Tam


Tony is an associate in the litigation and arbitration team.

He has experience in a broad aspect of litigation matters including shareholders’ and directors’ disputes, tortious claims, contractual disputes, intellectual property disputes and criminal proceedings. He was also involved in a variety of high profile cases in the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal relating to shareholders’ disputes, debt recovery, commercial fraud, insolvency and derivative action.

Tony possesses a wide range of knowledge in multidisciplinary areas. He holds a BASc degree in Mechanical Engineering (Minor in Bioengineering) from the University of Toronto, a MSc degree in Law & Accounting from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Hong Kong.

Acting for the overseas plaintiffs in successfully defending stay of proceedings based on forum non conveniens in the Court of Appeal case Waxman & anor v Li Fei Yu & anor [2016] HKEC 956.

Acting for the minority shareholder in successfully obtaining a Wallersteiner Order in the landmark case of Waxman v Li Fei Yu & anor [2017] HKEC 561.

Acting for the company in successfully obtaining a validation order in the leading case Re Jessop & Baird (Hong Kong) Ltd [2016] HKEC 2528.
