Toshikazu Sakai is special counsel in the real estate team.

Toshikazu has experience in various types of finance transactions (including real estate securitisation and other asset finance, syndicated loans and other banking transactions, project finance, cross-border finance), financial regulation matters (including securities law, capital market, banking law, trust business law and money lending business law), asset management (including establishment and solicitation of various investment funds, trust, and applicable financial regulations) and bankruptcy, financial restructuring and dispute resolution of these transactions.

Prior to joining Withers, he was an Attorney-at-Law at one of the largest law firms in Japan.

He is also an outside director of The Shikoku Bank, Ltd (non-fulltime basis), which is one of the listed Japanese local banks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (First Section) and located in Kouchi Prefecture.
