Overview

Brian's practice focuses on international and domestic business litigation, with an emphasis on cross-border disputes, commercial matters, securities law, art law and employment litigation.  Brian’s clients include individuals, businesses and foreign States in litigation in federal and state courts throughout the US, as well as before regulatory agencies, including the SEC and New York Stock Exchange.  Brian has handled a wide range of complex matters for banks, financial institutions, hedge funds, entrepreneurs, art galleries and art collectors.

Highlights

  • Represented Greek national basketball team in international jurisdictional dispute. Case successfully resolved with full dismissal of claims against the team.
  • Representing Liechtenstein bank in Madoff-related litigation (In re: Fairfield Sentry Ltd) seeking clawback of funds invested by bank clients in largest Madoff feeder fund.
  • Representing the Romanian State in connection with the enforcement of foreign judgment in the US.
  • Representing art galleries and collectors in various New York-based lawsuits.
  • Represented aircraft owner in international dispute concerning breached contract of sale.
  • Successfully represented leading wine auction house in enforcement of judgment.
  • Successfully represented the holders of $200 million of bonds in lawsuits against rating agency and indenture trustee of private placement.   
  • Represented CFO of software company in connection with SEC investigation into alleged accounting improprieties.   
  • Represented Managing Member of multi-billion dollar hedge fund in connection with employment litigation involving the termination of analyst.
