Overview

James advises on all aspects of personal estate and tax planning including wills, trusts and powers of attorney. Although James predominately advises individuals and families based in the UK, he also has experience of advising those that are domiciled or resident elsewhere. His advice focuses on methods for mitigating inheritance tax, capital gains and income tax through the use of lifetime gifts, onshore and offshore trusts and tax efficient wills.

James has a particular interest in landed estates and is a member of Withers' Landed Estates team. He is also a member of the Elder Law team and has experience of advising on court of protection and mental capacity issues.

On a personal note

James is an enthusiastic sportsman and enjoys cricket, skiing, football and tennis. He ran the London Marathon in both 2009 and 2011 with a best time of 3 hours and 17 minutes!
