Hussein Haeri KC, partner and co-head of Withers' respective international arbitration and Middle East groups and head of the public international law group, has been appointed as a Professor of Practice at the SOAS School of Law over the next three years. The role of Professors of Practice is to bring their real-world sector experience to bear on the academic environment in order to contribute to SOAS's ongoing mission of combining academic rigor with practical industry expertise.

Hussein is a King's Counsel in England, recognised by numerous independent sources as a leader in international arbitration and public international law and has led teams on many landmark matters.

His appointment as Professor of Practice builds on his longstanding relationship with SOAS, where he has served as a Senior Fellow and member of the Management Committee of the SOAS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Centre.

Hussein comments: 'It's a great honour to be invited to serve as a Professor of Practice at the School of Law. I look forward to working with academic colleagues to help develop the knowledge, skills and experience of a new generation of talented law students."

Offering opportunities to develop future talent

SOAS, in partnership with Withers, awards the SOAS Withers Prize to the top-performing postgraduate student in the International Investment Law module within the School of Law. The winner receives a one-month internship with Withers’ London arbitration team. We have welcomed 5 postgraduate students over the last 5 years, and we extend our warmest congratulations to this year’s awardee, Richa Khanna Guntreddi.
