Withers launches US family law practice with addition of partner Samantha Klein

16 August 2021 | Applicable law: US

Worldwide law firm Withers has continued to expand its international family law practice with the arrival of partner Samantha Klein in Los Angeles. Samantha, who had worked at California family law firm Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles since 2003, will formally launch Withers’ US family law practice and complement the services already offered to the firm’s high net worth and private client base across the country.

Samantha is recognized as one of the top family lawyers in LA, representing high net worth and high-profile clients in entertainment and sports, as well as senior executives and entrepreneurs. She advises her clients on all aspects of family law, including divorce and complex financial issues, disputes over children and domestic violence restraining orders. She also negotiates and drafts settlement, cohabitation, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Peter Wood, CEO of Withers’ Dispute Resolution division, comments: “This is a really exciting step for our family practice. We have been leading the field in London and Hong Kong for years, and recently added to our family law strengths in Singapore with partner Ivan Cheong. California has been in our sights for a long time as a major market for family law, and we’re delighted to have found someone of Samantha’s calibre to launch our practice there. She is only the first addition as we continue to look to expand in the US market.

Samantha adds: “Joining Withers is a big step for me and a huge opportunity to establish a new practice from the ground up. The move was compelling because it allows me to work directly with new colleagues in tax, property and wealth planning on the complex financial and real estate issues my clients often face, as well as collaborate with the international family law team on cross-border cases, which are increasingly common.

Dean Nicyper, head of Withers’ US Dispute Resolution team, says: “We are thrilled to have Samantha join our team in the US. Her practice, skill and experience significantly enhance the services we offer to our clients.
