Event | UK Tax Update: The Budget, first tax returns following the 2025 reforms and key reporting considerations
Applicable law: England and Wales, EU
Please join us for a lunchtime seminar, where we will discuss the implications of the Autumn Budget together with the self-assessment tax returns for the 2025/2026 tax year, the first year following the abolition of the remittance basis and the introduction of the new Foreign Income and Gains ('FIG') regime and residence-based inheritance tax rules.
Our panel will consider the impact of any measures announced in the Budget, together with other confirmed and anticipated changes on the horizon. We will also discuss the self-assessment and reporting obligations arising under the new regime, including the increased information-gathering requirements for UK-resident taxpayers, who will need more detailed information about their overseas investments and structures, as well as the additional reporting and filing obligations fo non-resident trustees.
The session will explore the practical challenges of determining not only what needs to be reported, but how it should be reported, including the filing positions and judgements taxpayers and trustees may need to take under the new rules, with time for questions and discussion.
We hope to see you there.
