Major League Baseball (MLB) joins the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL), all of which have struck up gambling partnerships with MGM Resorts (MGM).
Similar to the others league's deals, MGM will have access to MLB intellectual property, like league and team logos, which will appear in MGM advertising and at MGM's sportsbooks. Whereas the NBA and NHL granted non-exclusive rights to proprietary, general and in-game data and analytics, the MLB has agreed to give MGM sportsbooks non-exclusive rights to its official statistics feeds and exclusive rights to its "enhanced statistics." Enhanced statistics includes the exit velocity of a home run, speed around the bases and the route efficiency to a ball hit into the field of play. MLB's basic data rights will not be exclusive to MGM as MLB plans to sell those rights to other operators as well. As MLB's official partner, MGM will also have a presence at the All-Star Game and World Series.
