On July 31, the NBA agreed to a sponsorship deal with MGM Resorts International, becoming the first U.S. sports league to enter into such a deal with a sportsbook operator.
Under the terms of the deal, MGM will be allowed to use the NBA logo and highlights in their products and will have access to a direct data feed from the NBA. This will allow MGM casinos to use logos on oddsboards at sportsbooks as well as in an MGM sports betting app. The deal is reported to be for three years and at least $25 million. While the deal is non-exclusive, allowing the NBA to enter into similar agreements with other sportsbooks, MGM will be the only one known as the "official gaming partner" of the NBA. The partnership between the NBA and the sportsbook comes following a Supreme Court decision which has provided the opportunity for individual states to legalize sports gambling.
