Agatha is a consultant in the banking and finance team.
She started practice in March 1992 with a focus in debt capital markets deals, such as local and international club deals and syndications. Over the years, her practice focus has been on corporate banking and finance, including secured and unsecured financing, domestic and cross-jurisdictional transactions, residential and commercial financing projects - and advisory work on general banking, enforcement and corporate issues.
Her clients are principally local and offshore banks and financial institutions, and Agatha advises both banks and borrowers, and drafts loan and security documentation in relation to various corporate banking and finance transactions, including bilateral loan and security documentation, syndicated or club deals, and drafting of standard banking forms and documents, and standard terms and conditions.
Me in a minute
I attribute my longevity in practice to clients who have become my friends
I stumbled into National University of Singapore law school in the late 80s, having eliminated all the other courses that I did not want to study. Upon graduation, my ex-boyfriend (now husband) insisted that I should give practice a try. I have been in practice for over twenty years, although my original plan was to leave after three!
I attribute my longevity in practice to clients who have become my friends, and who value me for delivering quality professional service in a timely manner.
In the last 10-15 years, my practice focus has been banking and finance in the Singapore market, with particular emphasis on the real estate sector. In the course of my career, I also found time to get married, have two children, and travel quite a fair bit with family and friends. Now that my children are older, I have found time once again to engage in my favourite past time - reading.
If I did not enter law, I suspect I would most likely be a historian or an obsessive compulsive copy editor!
