Alison is special counsel in the charities team.
She specializes in the laws affecting US tax-exempt organizations, with a particular focus on tax issues arising from exempt status, nonprofit corporate governance, and transactional matters. She additionally advises individual and corporate donors on tax-efficient charitable giving and establishing new entities.
Alison's representation of public charities, private foundations, and other tax-exempt entities encompasses a range of matters, including the formation and structuring of organizations, board governance and corporate policies, fundraising, grantmaking in the US and abroad, program-related investments, joint ventures and collaborations, and lobbying and advocacy.
Alison previously served as General Counsel of a renowned cultural institution and is versed in the various aspects of managing and operating a nonprofit organization.
