Multi-jurisdictional enforcement of arbitration awards and issues of State immunity

4 June 2026

Date: Thursday 4 June 2026
Time: 09:00 - 10:30
Location: Withers London office, 20 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7AN

Withers and Blackstone Chambers invite you to a co-hosted breakfast seminar, where our speakers will examine recent developments in the enforcement of arbitral awards, with a particular focus on awards made against States.

This session will explore Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd. v Federal Republic of Nigeria, focussing on the enforcement of the resulting award against Nigeria, alongside broader trends in State resistance to enforcement.

 The panel will consider:

  • Recent approaches to enforcing arbitral awards against States, including enforcement in the US, France and the UK
  • Whether States are becoming more resistant to enforcement, and emerging trends in how courts are responding
  • Practical steps investors can take to mitigate country risk and to increase enforcement prospects

There will be the opportunity to network over breakfast from 9am, in preparation for the start of the seminar at 9:30am.

Please RSVP using the button above and if there are any questions, please get in touch with the Events team
