According to a recent article in Invest Asian, Japan is one of Asia’s main growth engines, holding claim to the world’s third largest economy. Japan is now the second most popular country in Asia to buy property as a foreigner, as they invest in one of the world’s most heavily-urbanised and development countries.

Foreign investors do not face any restrictions when acquiring real estate in Japan unlike in most other countries in Asia. However, it is important for investors to choose the right investment structure – the most common vehicles being the tokutei mokuteki kaisha (TMK) and the tokumei kumiai (TK) that are unique to Japan.
