Secretary Risa Itabashi

Toshi Tsuchiya is a partner in the real estate team.

His practice focuses on the securitization and liquidation of real estate assets, including the utilization of the TMK structure in development projects.

His experience covers not only real estate assets, but also receivables and claimable assets.

Toshi has also been involved in a wide range of international and domestic business transactions including mergers and acquisitions, general corporate matters, international litigation and international arbitration.

His expertise in real estate has been recognised in the Chambers Asia-Pacific, IFLR1000 and Legal 500 Asia-Pacific Guides. From 2020 to 2026, Chambers Asia-Pacific ranked him in Band 2 in Real Estate: Bengoshi. Toshi was also listed as one of the top ten influential real estate Bengoshi lawyers in Japan by Business Today.

Before joining Withers, Toshi was a partner at an international law firm in Tokyo.

Represented Morgan Stanley in the bulk sales and securitization of office buildings and warehousing facilities, repackaging of beneficial interests involving multiple portfolios and formation of asset management companies through JVs.

LaSalle Investment Management

Represented LaSalle Investment Management in the securitization of logistic centers, shopping centers and hotels and providing legal advice relating to asset management services for retail facilities.

Securitization

Securitization of 200 billion yen in consumer credit receivables funded by the issuance of bonds underwritten by foreign private investors.
