Me in a minute

I work primarily for US people living in the UK (like me) whose lives involve varying degrees of complexity

My main goal is to help make things a little less complicated for them. I have a particular focus on philanthropic planning and really enjoy the collaborative nature of that work.

Having earned my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Religion my parents breathed a heavy sigh of relief when I announced I was heading to law school. I think I always wanted to be a lawyer and spent a lot of time at the Prosecutor’s Office on Maui, where my mom worked as a secretary.

I had the opportunity during law school to spend a year in London, which I loved, and which is what brought me back here after graduation. I have spent my entire career practicing at Withers in London, and never in the US, which sets me apart from most US lawyers. I am very familiar with the cross-border issues that our clients face and I work closely with my UK, Russian, Italian, etc. colleagues to come up with innovative solutions that work across multiple jurisdictions.

I frequently advise clients with respect to effective cross-border estate planning and charitable giving. I have set up numerous US private foundations for high-profile donors and regularly advise US private foundations and public charities on organization and operation issues in an international context.
