Advised the Government of India on the Jadhav Case (India v Pakistan) before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Advised the Government of India on the petition filed in the Supreme Court regarding the Rhingya refugees.

Advising a number of clients who are domiciled in India and Pakistan on the structure of their wills to maximise the possibility of tax treaties with the UK applying on death. This can protect UK assets from charges to UK inheritance tax notwithstanding the clients being UK deemed domiciled through long term residence.

Assisting an ultra-high net worth family whose members are based in Hong Kong, India and the Philippines, and most of whom have overseas connections and assets, including in the UK, on succession and trust planning with a view to achieving efficient governance and global taxation.

Appeared before the Supreme Court of India on cases involving issues of law of the sea, human rights and application of international law in domestic courts.

Paul, Deborah Nicholls-Carr and Olivia Turner represented Prince Mukarram Jah, His Exalted Highness Nizam VIII of Hyderabad, in a dispute over funds frozen at Natwest Bank for over 70 years (the subject of a 1958 House of Lords decision Rahimtoola v Nizam of Hyderabad), involving the governments of India and Pakistan. Pakistan issued a new claim in 2013. The High Court decided in Pakistan v Natwest and Ors [2015] EWHC 55 (Ch) that the Nizam's claim to the funds should be allowed to proceed. The Judge upheld the Nizam's claim (along with those of his younger brother and India) to his grandfather's funds. Read the Judgment here. The case was one of The Lawyer's ‘Top 20 Cases of 2019'.  In July 2020 we succeeded in ensuring applications to set aside the Judgment and seeking disclosure of various documents were dismissed. Advised a multinational conglomerate in the business of manufacturing and distribution of hotel supply products in India in selling its majority stake to a listed company.

Worked directly with King's Counsel on the dispute between Reliance Industries, BP and the Government of India over revisions in gas prices and amends to cost recovery provisions of a Production Sharing Contract over an offshore gas block in the Bay of Bengal.

Advised a multinational group in disposing its production and distribution business of knitted products with land and factory situated in Bangladesh.

Advising Racing Point on the acquisition of the Force India Formula One Team's business from administration, working collaboratively with Withers' business team on a transaction which involved extensive consideration of insolvency issues and historic contentious issues concerning the team and its previous owners.
