Caryn is a partner and regional division leader of the US private client and tax team.

Caryn practices in the areas of estate and gift tax planning, administration of complex estates and business succession matters.   Her clients include family business owners, executives, artists, art collectors, entertainment and media professionals and other high net worth individuals.

She helps her clients navigate the complex federal and state rules and preserve, protect and grow family wealth in a tax efficient manner. She also assists clients with the administration of complex estates, including preparation of estate and gift tax returns, representing clients in tax audits with the IRS and dealings with the IRS art advisory panel.

Caryn serves as co-chair of the New York State Bar Association Estate and Trust Administration Committee. Earlier in her legal career, Caryn handled corporate and securities law matters. She served as in-house counsel at American Express Bank, where she provided legal support to the global investment services division. She was also a corporate associate in private practice.

Caryn has substantial experience in the field of international economic development. She was managing director, global head of programs, at the Financial Services Volunteer Corps in New York, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen financial sectors in emerging market countries. During the mid-1990s, she served as a project manager for the International Finance Corporation's small-scale privatization projects in Belarus and Ukraine. She also served as a consultant in Ukraine and Kazakhstan for KPMG Peat Marwick.
