Experience
ME IN A MINUTE
The real reward of my job is helping clients work through complex issues, plan for the future and gain some peace of mind.
Like many solicitors in the UK, I turned to the law after spending a few years post-university doing something totally different – in my case, helping large NGOs raise money. I realised during that time spent working with some remarkable organisations that, for me, professional fulfilment lay in applying a wealth of expertise and experience to help clients work through complex problems - and that's what being a tax lawyer is all about.
I enjoy a varied practice in all dimensions of personal tax and wealth planning, but the common goal in all of my work is to give my clients clear options and routes forward in the face of often complex challenges, whether I'm working with entrepreneurs, executives, family offices, trustees, or individuals simply wanting to make careful provision for themselves and their families for the future.
The UK's tax code is notoriously long and no year passes by without significant changes to it. This may keeps things interesting for advisors like me but it can pose a real nightmare for taxpayers with complex affairs, often straddling borders themselves or with assets or family members in multiple jurisdictions. It's fulfilling to help clients find some order in that chaos so that they can get on with the important things in life with a little peace of mind.
I have a deep passion for the natural world, so when out of the office I'm most likely to be found looking through a pair of binoculars (or more rarely a loupe) whenever I get the chance.
