Joseph is a partner in the litigation and arbitration team.
His practice focuses on commercial disputes and regulatory matters. Over the years, he advises and represents clients in international arbitration, general commercial disputes, tax and trust disputes, insolvency proceedings and regulatory investigations, with a particular focus on regulatory investigation and cross-border litigation. He represents victims to major fraud cases in pursuing recovery against the fraudsters and advises clients on new legal challenges in the new economy and digital era.
He is one of the authors of Sweet & Maxwell's Arbitration in Hong Kong: A Practical Guide, 2nd Edition, and was a contributing editor of Hong Kong Civil Procedure (the “White Book”). In 2025, he has been granted higher rights of audience by the Higher Rights Assessment Board.

Joseph has been recognized as a "Litigation Star" in the areas of international arbitration and commercial and transactions by Benchmark Litigation in 2024 and 2025, noted for "attentive, meticulous attention to detail, and adept at providing creative solutions".

Acting for clients (corporations and individuals) in general commercial litigation involving matters concerning breach of contract, directors' duties, shareholders' rights, tax, fraud, claims for unjust enrichment and other restitutionary relief.
Restructuring & insolvency
Acting for liquidators in investigation of the affairs of insolvent companies, in restructuring, insolvency and other civil proceedings in Hong Kong.
Investigations
Acting for various corporations (and their directors) in investigations by the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and the Securities and Future Commission and for international banks in fraud cases, cross-border litigation and regulatory investigations.
International arbitration work
Acting for corporations in international arbitrations in Hong Kong and in the Mainland China on high-value and complex commercial disputes.
Contentious probate
Acting for executors in the administration of estate and for beneficiaries in contentious probate disputes.
