Charlie is a partner in the private client and tax team and is co-head of private client and tax in Europe.
He advises international families and family offices on UK and international tax, trust and succession matters, including wills (both the UK and cross border), private trust company structures and the ongoing management of international trust arrangements. Much of his work revolves around the governance structures put in place by and for international families.He advises a number of business families on their existing structures set up for the management and governance of the family business, its interaction with family trusts and associated estate planning measures.
Charlie advises charities and private clients on tax issues in probate and trust disputes and assists with trust issues involved in international trust litigation.
Charlie has been described by clients and intermediaries as “highly technical with a common-sense approach to complex tax and family office issues.” He is highly regarded for his technical proficiency and client empathy.
He has been ranked in the Chambers High Net Worth Private Wealth Law category for the past four years. He is recognised by Legal 500 as a Leading Partner in the Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate category. He focuses on UK and international tax and trust issues for both UK domiciled and non-domiciled individuals, as well as advising on wills and succession planning. Charlie was listed in The Lawyer's Hot 100 dealmakers list for 2018.
He advises a number of family offices and international families as to their ongoing affairs and international trust structures, including private trust company structures.
