James is a senior associate in the corporate team.
James is a Corporate lawyer with a focus on entrepreneurs, private businesses, high net wealth individuals and their trusted advisors, and family offices. His practice involves a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructuring and investor issues. He works closely with our Private Client team, as well as trusted advisors to high net wealth individuals and family offices.James previously worked in Australia, acting for members of the Australian Forbes Rich List.

I am most proud when I can help clients achieve their overarching goals.
I began my early career as a private client lawyer in Australia. It became evident to me very quickly that the majority of our clients' wealth was grown in private enterprise and so I began to pursue more and more corporate work. What I've found over time is that I find it so rewarding to work where people's personal and business interests meet - whether founders growing and realising the companies they first began, to helping investors secure their and their families' futures.
Working closely with the ultimate stakeholders in any given matter creates a special advisor relationship. Particularly in circumstances involving delicate interpersonal relationships between clients and their family members or commercial partners. Developing trust and understanding with clients is key, and working with closely-held businesses requires a different approach to more traditional corporate law.I am most proud when I can help clients achieve their overarching goals - rather than the ones simply placed in front of us. For example, I may be engaged to help negotiate a business sale, but ultimately the client's goal is to be able to start a new business idea in a new industry - only once they're up and running in that new business have I properly done my job.
